Airplane Private Pilot Certificate Part 61 & 141

Basic but critical skills

The basic knowledge you acquire in our private pilot course is essential for flight safety throughout your future in aviation. Whether you plan to fly for fun, give rides to your family and friends, or become a professional pilot, it all begins with the private pilot certificate.

Our FAA-approved private pilot course provides rigorous training through simultaneous online learning, face-to-face ground school training, and in-flight instruction. Ground school and in-flight training curricula are each divided into three stages. At the end of each stage and at the end of the course, we check to make sure your progress toward the FAA practical test known as the “checkride.”

Airplane Instrument Rating

An instrument rating is required for flying in adverse weather conditions

An instrument rating expands the flying privileges of your pilot’s license and helps you to become a safe and proficient pilot. Beginning with the basics of attitude instrument flying and ending with your instrument rating, this course teaches you to navigate the aircraft solely by reference to the instruments. You will learn to read, understand, and fly with instrument charts during departures, en routes, arrivals, and approaches with air traffic control (ATC). Being prepared for and able to handle any changes in the weather will increase safety for you and your passengers. Students often acquire an instrument rating before starting commercial training in order to build up flight time before taking the commercial pilot exam.

Airplane Multi-Engine Rating

The multi-engine rating gives you experience with the remarkable improvement in aircraft performance capability that comes with increases in speed, power, and rate of climb.

The multi-engine rating course begins with a study of the performance characteristics of the multi-engine aircraft with emphasis on the performance and safety factors involved in flying an airplane with only one functioning engine. Managing the complexity and workload of a multi-engine aircraft is challenging. There is no minimum time requirement for the multi-engine rating; however, you will need an instructor’s endorsement of flight and ground training prior to the checkride. There is no written examination for the multi-engine rating.

Airplane Commercial Pilot Certificate

The commercial pilot certificate is a key step on the path to becoming a professional pilot

Commercial pilot training focuses on advanced aerodynamics using various aircraft and the operational rules and regulations used commercially. Higher levels of flight skills, knowledge, and decision making are crucial for safe commercial operations carrying passengers and cargo. The commercial pilot certificate makes you a more competent and proficient professional pilot.

Airline Transport Pilot

The airline transportation pilot (ATP) certificate is the highest level of pilot certification

ATP certification qualifies to serve as a flight crew member in scheduled airline operations under CFR 14 Part 121. Your first step toward the ATP certificate is the Airline Transport Pilot Certification Training Program (ATP CTP). This program meets the requirements of FAR §61.156. The ATP CTP applies to applicants for an ATP certificate with a multi-engine class rating. This rating prepares you to fly safely in operations that require an ATP certificate by regulation.

Airplane Flight Instructor Certificate

One way to increase your flight time and gain experience is to become a flight instructor

TCertified flight instructors (CFI) offer primary instruction for the Private Pilot Certificate as well as more advanced instruction toward a Commercial Certificate, Instrument Rating, Multi-Engine Rating, and Airline Transport Pilot Certificate. While teaching, you can log hours as flight time and get paid for the hours. The focus of our CFI program is to train you to become a considerate and thoughtful flight instructor who can motivate and inspire students.
